29 January 2007

This is my 4th day of picture taking. I missed Thursday and Saturday and there was no work on Sunday.
They have not yet started to paint. Had rain on the week end, but today was a gorgeous Northern California sunny winter day.
I think I will do 2 emails again just to try and keep things straight. I think I got some good shots of things we didn't normally get to see...like torpedo tube outer doors open and stern planes in the full rise position. We were inside the Boat when these two things happened and we were all pretty busy!!
I believe they will start painting tomorrow because the weather forecast is for sunny and warm days for the next week or so.
Anyway, here is a sampling of the pictures for Monday January 29th.

Here is the second camera pictures. Another situation that we hoped we would never see. Both torpedo doors open on tube 1!!! Jim Adams and Len Vaden removed the mechanical interlock for this drydock. It will be put back in place before she floats. Not to good to have a 21 inch diameter hole in the Boat. Also thought it kinda neat to see the San Francisco skyline over the Bow.
Hope they start painting tomorrow.
